Habitat Legacy Society
It is the mission of the Habitat Legacy Society to ensure the continuation of the protection and enhancement of pheasants and other wildlife populations through public awareness and education, habitat restoration, development and maintenance, and improvement in land and water management policies for future generations.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR CONSERVATION LEGACY?
We hope your legacy will be the continuing improvement of habitat, the availability of healthy wildlife populations and the security of our hunting heritage. If that is what you want for the future, please consider joining the Habitat Legacy Society to designate some or all of your estate to Pheasants Forever’s important work.
The Habitat Legacy Society will recognize individuals who care deeply about Pheasants Forever and our heritage of conservation and education for future generations. This can be done through current gifts, bequests in a will or many types of planned gifts. When Pheasants Forever receives a gift from an estate, the proceeds are used in accordance with the stated wishes of the donor. Unless otherwise designated, the gift will be placed in an endowment fund to maintain projects already established and fund future projects. The principal of the gift remains intact while investment income provides permanent funding for the vital conservation efforts of Pheasants Forever. This is a great way to maintain, enhance and conserve critical habitat while leaving that legacy for your children.
There is no minimum commitment to join the Habitat Legacy Society. It is an extremely flexible program which you can customize to meet your own needs.
Confidentiality
Information about donors and prospects is confidential. Files are accessible only to authorized personnel. Public announcements or other publicity about gifts are the prerogative of Pheasants Forever. However, living donors will be consulted to secure approval before their gifts are made public. Donor requests for anonymity are always honored.
Professional Counsel
Pheasants Forever, Inc. recognizes the necessity of securing legal and/or other professional counsel in matters relating to planned giving, and will use such assistance. The advice of legal counsel will be secured for all agreements, contracts, trusts and other documents issued by Pheasants Forever.
All donors and prospective donors will be advised in writing to seek their own counsel in regard to proposals for planned gifts. If the donor refuses to do so, Pheasants Forever will contact its own counsel for advice on how to proceed.
Staff members authorized to promote, negotiate and secure planned gifts will represent themselves as development professionals, not as legal, financial or tax advisors.
